Barbeque Outdoor Grill - For those who love outdoor cooking there are more good choices when looking for a barbeque outdoor grill and grills can be a good gift for Dad.  Gone are the days when the only choice you had was that round charcoal grill that too often resulted in an assortment of 2nd and 3rd degree burns during the family cookout.  There was always that "expert" present who claimed they could make the fire "better" than anyone else and proceed to demonstrate how well they looked with burned eyebrows and arm hair.  If your dad is the kind who loves to squirt the lighter fluid on the charcoal after the fire is started, buy him a gas grill this time.

Gas BBQ Grills - You can get decent gas BBQ grills for around $100 and up.  Consider how many people need to be fed when choosing your gas grill.  If it's too small folks will be forever waiting for their food.  Another consideration is the type of cooking you want to do.  If you plan to cook mostly burgers, steaks and chicken then typical gas BBQ grills will work fine.  If your preference is more for smoking food then check out smokers instead.  Do you plan to do any indirect cooking?  If so, find a grill that has more than one burner so you light one side and cook your food on the other side.

The stainless steel barbeque grill is the preferred BBQ grills of choice for many because they're easier to clean and last much longer than painted surface models.  If you want a better quality grill, look for a stainless steel barbeque grill.  You want a grilling surface that is easy to clean and will last.  The better grills have a porcelain surface, this is easier to clean and will also last longer.  Cast iron is a good choice for cooking but doesn't clean as easily and needs more maintenance.

Some other features to consider with BBQ grills include additional racks inside to cook away from the hear source or to keep food or sauce warm.  Do you need a side burner for cooking vegetables or heating sauce?  Make sure your new BBQ grill has enough shelf space.  Do you want or need a built-in thermometer?  Do you use a rotisserie?  Think about where you plan to use it.  Will you be cramped for space or does that even matter?  Note how the burners are lit.  A push button igniter usually throws one spark per push while a turn dial igniter throws multiple sparks.  One often overlooked feature is a lighting hole.  Should the igniter fail to spark, you may have to light the burners manually.  We keep a fireplace lighter handy, a lighter with a long nozzle on it, and use it to light our grill when the igniter fails.  Don't forget the wheels.  Four wheels make it easier to move since you don't have to lift the grill to move it.

So who makes the best gas barbeque outdoor grill?  If you ask 10 people you'll probably get 10 different answers.  If quality and warranty are important, as opposed to price alone, your best bet is to stick with the top name brands like Weber, Char-Broil, and Brinkmann .  Igloo is now selling BBQ grills but I don't know how long they've been doing so.  Igloo does a long standing reputation that's worth noting, though.
